Is isolation good?
Saturday – November 1, 2025

Many people think of isolation as either something bad and detrimental or good, but I take a broader view: I believe that isolation is good when needed and I believe that there are occasions in life in which isolation is necessary for your own well being. Of course, some people will claim that isolation will cause mental illness, but what is being labeled mental illness by most modern people is in fact no such thing. One you close out the world, once you turn inward you'll quickly discover many things about yourself and the world that you just couldn't before, because the noise and the commotion of the modern world constantly interrupts you and your attempt to come closer to the values and the aspect of the world that actually matter. I believe that most humans throughout the ages new isolation and quiet peace more so than commotion and havoc, and I believe that if anything it is the modern world that has made, forced, men to become insane. Indeed, it would seem that mental illness has become commonplace among most people these days, with such things as ADHD and Autism skyrocketing among the population. Now, the seeming increase in these mental problems could also be due to the fact that they didn't exist as diagnoses in the past. Whatever the case, it seems that mental illness has become normalized, and that's not fine, at least not if you seek the light. What creator would make his creation born sick? I can't think of any righteous creator that would do this. But are these things, ADHD and Autism, really real? I don't know, because I am not a medical professional, but from a spiritual and metaphysical point of view I believe that it would be quite right to view them with a great deal of suspicion and I also believe that these things are cause, like most other illnesses, by a corrupted soul but I am not intending to go on about that here, but you can read about my views on demonic possession here. But when you close out the world you do allow yourself a chance to regain a proper perspective on the world and that's actually important, at least if you seek to walk the righteous path in life. But yes, eventually I will admit that I believe that isolation, depending on circumstances, will and do become detrimental, but that's not a real form of isolation. See, if you imprison a man in a small and confined space, yes he should be expected to lose his mind but that's because he's not really being isolated; that man is being tormented and tortured and the point of isolation is not to cause torment and torture. See, the point of isolation is to instill within a sense of control and again to allow yourself to gain proper perspective. Quiet and silence is important to anyone that seeks to actually exist in tune and motion with the natural world. The entire modern world, the materialist order or should I say disorder, is constituted in such a way that you and your contemporaries should exist in continual and unending hysteria. Yes, you are driven by hysteria because you lack control and autonomy over your own life, over your own actions and that's by design. But see, it's also more complicated than than: you also likely wish to give up some part, if not all, of your autonomy because life is hard and the material domain doesn't give you a great shot, and therefore one can confidently assert that there exists a certain symbiosis between you and the serpent, because allow yourself to be honest for once: you don't seek real freedom and real autonomy, that's too hard. Isolation is, in my view, a necessary step towards true and sincere freedom and towards the light. If you seek to be guided by the light and the source, then you need to gain perspective and that can't happen as long as you remain under the spell of the mass psychosis of the modern world. Forget about all that noise and walk towards the light, but again you may only do that in complete and true isolation. This is why I believe that nature is a great teacher and I believe that you should retreat to nature and within nature you will see the light, if you truly seek the light.
Do you really need all of that constant social pressure? I don't think so and if you feel that you can't make it without being social, then I feel sad for you, because you really lack a very basic form of skillful means and I'm not blaming you but I don't know that you can be saved. Human beings have mostly lived in isolation for the vast majority of its existence on Earth. But maybe constant and continual movement is the future, but I don't believe that humanity should look forward to that future, because I'm sure the robots and the post-humanist technology will be more adept to that mode of being, if one can ascribe a mode of being to a robot. I am all in favor, on the other hand, of being social, but social is not about being human. Being human is about the moment, and what is considered social, or really pro-social, in modern times is nothing other than the complete transformation into the beast.
I believe as well that isolation can do more than bring you a proper perspective: isolation can make you dependent, in the material domain, only on yourself and your own effort and that will also bring you material as well as spiritual liberation; it will allow you to get a step closer to the enlightenment.
