My views on Populism |
Sunday – November 16, 2025
It should be no secret for anyone reading this page that I am profoundly opposed to populism, and for good reasons. From a materialistic point of view, I am against populism for the reason that it as a political phenomena, perhaps an infantile disorder or democracy, relies on stupidity and I do not respect stupidity. Populism also relies on hysteria: it relies on human beings acting out in the world as the human animal, free from any overriding and even rational, to use that word, inputs, and this has and will continue to create potential for enormous damage. People that rely on other men are already weak, by definition, and people that go further than that, people that rely on other men thinking on behalf of them have no mind or autonomy of their own; these people are truly animals because they've decided to become animal like, they've decided to completely transform into the beast. This I cannot respect. I gather that most people would claim that populism is positively correlated with poor educational outcomes and as far as I can tell this is true, and that's because people that lack education, formal or general, lack insight and ability to control their own destiny, and so these people become reliant on other men to tell them what to think and that's why the simple and shouting solution to complicated and multidimensional problems in the material domain become very attractive to the formless man—the man without basic autonomy, the mass man of the plebeian horde. I also gather that since this formless man has gained an apatite that the material domain simply cannot keep up with, he grows more and more resentful of that material order, even though the material order has given him everything he has and everything he knows: I think that the term non-player character (NPC) sums up the condition of this sorry and tragic creature. But indeed, the fundamental reason why the imperial core is in decline is because of this rage, the rage of the entitled masses. But why are they entitled? Well, perhaps that's not for me to answer, but allow me to give you a hint: here's the hint, if you care to read about it that is. Yes, there comes a point when the materialist domain quite frankly and clearly cannot keep up with the populist demand anymore, even if modern men are materially more prosperous than any men that came before them, because the material domain is all about perception and everything is relative; nothing is ever constant and absolute in the modern world. When you reduce the world to quantities that are relative to other quantities you eventually destroy the fundamental reason for being in the first place, and in the end you end up with confusion and chaos. Why should people not demand better material circumstances when they rely on the wisdom of the revolutionary elites that keeps promising them more and more? Populism is merely the logical conclusion of democracy: democracy has to end with demands that cannot be fulfilled and the politicians will never fulfill the populist demand because the materialist order simply cannot account for all demands. In a sense this is a story as old as humanity herself, and the fact that populism is on the rise is just a sign of our times: the Kali Yuga. When you remove and/or diminish the autonomy of men, you should expect them to rely on you and if you don't like that they rely on you, then you're out of luck: you have created the system and now the system is starting to consume you and eventually it will consume itself.
I don't believe in any form of mass mobilization, but I believe that populism is very poignant example of how mass mobilization can be effective, effective destruction, because that seems to be the fundamental reason for populism: a lot of men simply want to burn down the world because the world didn't give them everything. Yes, do notice that the most hateful and the most resentful people are often those of vast entitlement, and just as well, just as well. If you are destitute you don't have much to lose or gain in the material world. So why should the man of destitution, of vagrant circumstance, waste his precious time and energy on hate? Of course not. Of course not.
