How to disconnect from the internet |
Monday – December 8, 2025

In our modern world the internet has captivated every audience, and while there are clear and good upsides to the internet, do not allow yourself to fall for the great lie. Yes, the internet can provide a lot of important information, especially to dissidents, but the internet is also a source of great emotional distress and really a promoted of stress, depression, oppression, and repression: there's a lot of these things going on online, and in modern times people are more aware of the world than ever before, well people are more aware of the material domain and their own material constraints than ever before. All of these noises creates within man a sense of urgency, it puts him in a constant flight or fight mode, and this really starts to break down his character, because he becomes disassociated with the immediate world around him, the simple life and the small life. Indeed, if there's anything that is unnatural in modern times it has to be the way in which modern men consume information on the internet. Do understand that every aspect of the informational landscape is slanted towards making you feel bad about yourself. So has this awareness really made you a better man? No, the only thing hyper awareness about the material domain has brought into your life is sorrow and anxiety and this in turn has broken you down even further; you have embraced the beastly form in a more perfect sense.
So how do you turn away from the internet and should you always turn away from the internet? Well I have decided to answer the last question first. No, you don't always have to be disconnected from the internet, at least not if you're in the world, but it's good practice to be able to push the internet away where it does not belong, such when you eat or conduct business that does not require you to be connected to the internet. I believe that the best way to push the internet away is to just straight up crash yourself out of the internet and when you feel that boredom creeping up on you, let it. Yes, embrace being bored. It's perfectly healthy and good for you to just sit for a while or stand without your mind being distracted, and while you are bored allow your senses to work: make more observations about the world around you and try to figure out if you are beginning to notice things about the world that you didn't notice before.
Yes, embrace a quiet and a noise free life. Most people will quickly learn that they won't miss much of the internet once they've turned away. What the internet has done to you is to essentially hijack your senses, and what that in turn has done to you is to make you unable to live without being continuously stimulated, and it will be hard getting off that stimulation. In a sense, the internet is a form of addiction that, like any other addiction, has hijacked your ability to control your own life and your destiny. Why should you be defined by the commotion online? Well, you shouldn't and once that commotion and noise is gone from your life you will never look back. So without continually being connected to the internet, your life will be one stress source short, and that will indeed improve your overall quality of life. Yes, you didn't choose to appear on Earth in this particularly diseased and depraved iteration, but you can still choose what happens from now on. Also, don't misunderstand my usage of the word freedom: by freedom I am in no way referring to some abstract and material market sense of freedom; I'm actually referring to real freedom and you won't find that online or in the roller coaster of any other addiction: you will only find freedom within yourself and that begins by taking a step away from the internet and from the material world all together.
Of course, when you are trying to get off an addiction you will most likely not succeed at first and there will be very many incentives out there that will make you want to just go back to your old habits, and in many ways the best and most reliable way to break an addiction is through radical means, but always be careful with that in the modern world; there are simply too many things that are criminalized, always in the name of protection.
You need to earn skillful means, and that's hard, but one step in the right direction could be to just get off the internet, but again not for ever but when you actually don't need the internet.
