Modern civilization |

When it comes to the topic of civilization it's commonplace to divide the great civilizations of the world into Eastern civilization, or really civilizations, and Western civilization, yes singular. In the East civilization has still retained some of its original and traditional character, anchored in the primordial, but this is not the case in the west, where the confusions and ailments of modernity are most expressed, and more often than not in the form of the metaphysical and historical monstrosity that is the modern nation-state, an arrangement that has served to uproot all traditional modes of being in the west and has rendered western civilization a material and profoundly empty place, really a lowering of humanity to the lowest level, or a civilization that completely lacks skillful means and insight/knowledge. Of course, due to western colonialism and encroachment in the east, there are today several eastern civilizations with an undoubtedly western outlook and aesthetic, and to that extend I hold that such "eastern" civilizations should not be considered eastern in character, for they are merely extensions of the west, puppets of the material order if you will. I believe that the best way to describe modern civilization is indeed to equate modernity with western civilization; for all practical purposes they would seem to be interchangeable, but this interchangeability does not imply that there is no such thing as a traditional western outlook or character, or indeed that the historical tensions between the east and the west are due to some inherit difference between these civilizations that cannot be bridged. Indeed, in my view this tension between the east and the west is merely a function of the material and beastly character of the west or really of modernity, and yet still it is the western man that is aggressively imposing his ways and his profanity on the east, and this messianic tendency should perhaps best be summed up as the humanist axiom; indeed it is the western man that claims dominion over all of the Earth and all men of all domains therein, not the other way around. What then can be said about modern or western civilization, other than that modernity is something profoundly unnatural and strange, really an aberration in history, but this aberration must be understood then in the context of the cyclical order of our world, and this means that while the material aspects of modernity are indeed strange and unusual, their manifestations in this era of the Kali Yuga are actually to be expected. Indeed, one could perhaps describe this Dark Age as an age of confusion, where mental illness or really a profound lack of insight and skills reign supreme; where the entire metaphysical order has been inverted, or almost inverted, something I covered in my post about the nature of destruction the other day. The central claim and the central problem for modern men or really for western civilization is that all authority and all claims of authority lack a metaphysical and sacred order; indeed the state, which again is the most aggressive expression of modernity, has no authority beyond its own means, which means that it truly lacks any authority, yet no other authority is no longer powerful enough to oppose to false messiah, which is really the point of the modern nation-state, to replace The Creator and the sacred, the natural order, as the final moral arbiter, and this is indeed in keeping with the quantitative and material character of western men: every particle that consist of matter, every aspect of the material domain that is, has to be rendered in such a way that it can be instrumentalized to serve the material order; nothing beyond this can be conceived of other than fantasies and myths. Indeed, modern civilization isn't only a historical aberration: modern civilization is indeed a metaphysical monster that serves to disrupt the primordial equilibrium – the balance of the scales of the celestial order and this monster finds its expression, as previously stated, in the attempt to impose secularism and material law in every man, which is its explicit goal, often carried out in a messianic and hysterical frenzy about wishing to be "on the right side of history, really the most expressed attempt to replace God. This process of decay didn't begin at one point, but there are several historical occurrences that can be thought of as milestones on the road towards the close of the Kali Yuga: the destruction of The Order of The Knights Templar in 1312, the peace of Westphalia, the French revolution; all of these historical occurrences converged to enable what has become of western civilization or the modern world, because they all enabled the destruction of the feudal order that upheld the last remnants of western order and tradition in the form of the authority of the Church; today instead it would seem that all authority lays in the metaphysical warfare of the given political climate of the day, something that is also highly unusual.
Lastly I want to mention the east: it's clear that this final and likely terminal phase of the Kali Yuga had its origin in the west, but it's clear that this diseased mindset and corruption of sacred and primordial knowledge has spread far and afield and is now influencing the east in very destabilizing and adverse ways, and it can doubtless be so then, that the final bulwark against modernity should come from the east, in one or more metaphysical forms. To many western men this will be interpreted as a threat, but that would be a mistake, because western men are the only people who are presently threatening anyone, yet they seem surprised that their abnormal and fantastical ideas would meet resistance in more traditional societies. Indeed, during the course of this our 21st century it will be decided whether Eastern civilizations can resists these western influences, or whether they will fall into metaphysical confusion and disarray, and then the world is lost and will met in its end a great cataclysm that will serve to once again balance the scales of the celestial order.
