Video killed the radio star...
Monday – January 26, 2026
Yes, video did indeed kill the radio star, and at the moment the internet is killing the television "star", if you will, or really the movie star, and all other people who make money on television, and this is in keeping with my post "The end of history". Today, people are using the internet more and more to entertain themselves and "gather" information about the world, and I have no intention of writing about this phenomena, but I do find interest in understanding how this "evolution" is taken as granted; after all humanity is just becoming. The next movie star will still be a movie star, but an "internet movie star". What will come after the internet? The future only knows... But I do think that the internet can be used for whatever good that it can provide. Look, I am currently relying on the internet, and that's because I have decided to approach this ever changing temporal world with skillful means, which means that I find no interest in simply dismissing this medium of information; in fact, I can reach many more people through the internet and I am an advocate of using means in a skillful way. The scholars may be divided on the issue of the internet and really the efficacy of the internet, but that discussion is also outside the scope of this post, but how remarkable is it not, that an adult person should be talking to himself into a camera? This behavior would surely have labeled insanity in the not so distant past. Yes, it is remarkable that anyone can behave this way, but after all, as long as there's a camera to record, why not? Indeed, why not, but if you want to find out more about my views on cameras you can do that here, another discussion that falls outside the scope of this post. I believe that this post also should reference my previous post on "Smart" technology. Today the new movie start is the internet star, and these people will usually talk to themselves, or their ways will at least appear as if they are talking to themselves, but before I go on about that, let me just clarify that I do not believe that talking to oneself is a sign of mental illness, and in fact I believe that it can be quite healthy and helpful to talk to yourself, but this is yet another topic reserved for a different discussion.
With all that out of the way I feel that I can further explain my heading: what I mean by "Video killed the radio star" is just that, and yes this heading is a reference to a song with the same name, and this attitude that some people should simply just get out of the way, so that progress can happen is very much a modern concept. Why should someone with more experience and more knowledge simply "get out of the way" and "step aside"? In most traditional societies the elderly had a prominent role to play, and the elders often provided much needed wisdom and information, but in this metaphysically inverted world, old people are merely relics in a time gone by and seen as "obstructionists", and this is again because of that need to constantly push the material limits. Of course, at the very close of this cycle, the Kali Yuga, everyone will be old, because age will have become something completely relativistic in a time without time and reference. Age in its current form, is merely a sociological construction based on how many times a person has circumnavigated the Sun, rotated around the Sun, and this age is peculiar, because it seems to be the only number that is frowned upon as it grows; it's as if modern men seek to run away from age. Of course, this is, as previously stated, in keeping with the general character of the modern world, and nothing else should really be expected. But why this disdain for older people? Well, again it's all about the quantitative approach, and as the body ages, it becomes slower and weaker and therefore less able to contribute to the continual need for material growth, and in that regard age has indeed become inverted, because people lose standing and rank as they age. Really, the only value any modern man can expect is his monetary value, and this is deeply connected to his material "fitness", to use that horrendous word, and without material "fitness" you may not perform. I know that I have repeated myself here, but there's not need to attempt to avert facts that need repeating: the fact is that there is nothing great about aging in the modern world, and really the peak of a man's life appears to come fairly early in life, around the age of 20 to 25, after that his life is essentially on the decline.
Again, this relation to old people is essentially a modern phenomena and this is probably expressed most clearly in how older people have essentially been pushed out of society; indeed, a society in which only material pursuit and continual growth is valued, old people are, as previously stated, merely artifacts of the past that reminds us of mortality and the past, two things that serve as reference points for any healthy man in tune with the creation. Yes, the final solution to the human condition will likely be an attempt to "eradicate" aging completely, and then the world will be filled with a bunch of mendacious and contemptful 20-year old's, and with the lack of historical reference, such things as experience and knowledge will essentially amount to nothingness, which means that memory, collective and individual, will be erased and in its place ideological fantasy will reshape the world, until the great rupture at the close of the Kali Yuga, a point that we are quickly approaching.
I don't have any advice to offer; theses are merely my observations but I will offer this, if you care to refer to it as "advice": never forget, always cherish memory, and remember that young people are ignorant and monstrous creatures really, and these creatures, these beasts, are being mass produced. Other than that, remain true to your convictions and continue to seek the light.
