My Outlook |
Monday – August 3, 2026
I have had a lot of issues this year, as I covered in "Steady As She Goes", and really so far it does not appear to be the case that anything in my life is going to go easier. Now I suppose that I can say that God is not on my side, but I would rather say that I am distant from God at the moment. Now, that may or may not be my fault; it just too early to tell, read my "Personal Notes series". I can cry over my problems, but I do not wish to cry, and besides my problems are actually not that large, but because my outlook is rather bleak I tend to look at the world with a bad feeling, because I do have a bad feeling and I do have a bad outlook, but sometimes it does not help to think too much about the future. If the future is certain, I know that I need to continue what I am doing, which is why my motto has been "Steady As She Goes" this year and so far. I believe quite frankly that a lot of my anxiety has been caused by all the back and forth. In fact, I actually have a lot of stuff to think about; I have been forced to make a lot of hard decisions, and so I feel a little bit lost, which is okay. Now, I still do not prefer to make predictions about the future, because I am quite frankly not qualified to make predictions about the future; I cannot properly read the universe. However, qualifications aside, is there anything to all of this talk about how you need to prepare for a great cataclysm? Of course not... Not because the world is going to remain the same way forever, but because you simply cannot, I simply cannot, prepare: when the hour of judgment over man arrives, it will arrive and there will be very little that anybody can do about that. But then again, these things tend to happen slowly, which means that people will not notice change from day to day, read "The End of History". I guess to that I have been unlucky... Unlucky that I was born in this iteration of humanity, but again there is nothing that I may do about this; the power to alter this is simply outside of my hands and now it is too late to be altered.
Would I have been better off in a different time? Well, would you have been better off in a different time? I think so. In fact, I am convinced that we all would have been better off in a different time, but the dice has been rolled and here I am, here we are. Of course, sometimes the noise alone becomes unbearable and just atrocious, which is the case for me currently, and this is when I find refuge in history, for history is indeed a "safe place"; history provides a sense of continuity, and indeed I am very much swept up in that continuity. Yes, I have been forced to grow a certain conscience because of my sense of history; I have simply not been given another choice. Now, you may argue that all of this talk amounts, in the end, not to very much, but I would continue to argue that in fact, this all amounts to our present circumstances and to our present troubles. It is all too easy to just resign yourself to your fate, to just assume that among the powers that you posses, the power to alter the course of your life is something that is entirely outside of your domain, and indeed for many men this is the case; this is the case for men who are completely solidified. But where the solidification has not yet reached, I can only say that you must continue to pursue your destiny away from the temptations of the modern world. But temptations are not independent from history and neither are you; in fact, without history you would be lost, and this is perhaps why so many modern people are seemingly glued to their screens: they need their screens in order to navigate the world, because they simply do not trust themselves to navigate the world without constant input. Now, it would be wrong to call this a problem, because how can it be a problem to trust in your institutions and in the scientific progress of the modern world? No, this was never an issue of trust or of reliance; instead we are dealing with the fact that the institutions of the old world have now been wholly swept aside and made irrelevant. Why is it so impossible for men to deal with the world in the way that men have always dealt with the world today? Are we not really pointing towards a great theft? Yes, it would be much preferable for men to deal with the world in the same way, in the ways that one could say have survived the test of time, but now you see, in the end those ways of the world did not survive the test of time. This was never a matter of surviving the test of time; it was a matter of inevitability, and for this I do feel some sorrow and anxiety, while I know at the same time that there is nothing more to be done about this fact of life and fact of the world. Sorry old chaps, I am out of power here, and I am also out of knowledge, not that knowledge would be a savior in this situation.
So what am I supposed to say about all this? Am I supposed to just encourage everyone to give in to the inevitable? No, it is not a matter of giving up, for there was never anything to give up on, read "Despair", because these changes and these circumstances are inevitable, or rather they were always inevitable, and really whatever people thought that the future was going to be, they were just wrong. How can the future be anything but bleak, read "Is the Future the Enemy"? I suppose that I should try to circle back to myself here: did I ever give up on myself? Yes, and it is a rather painful process to come to accept your limitations in life, but I now know that these limitations are imposed on me, and there is really nothing more that I can do about them, because I was never asked, read "Transhumanism". Of course, this is a strange hour to ponder about this stuff, or is it? Not really, here in the early morning I can watch the sunrise, not that I much enjoy the sunrise; I actually prefer the sunset, but again there is nothing that I can do about this either.
Ah, I know this has been a ramble, but that is what I have dedicated this series to, rambling. I had a hard time sleeping. But yes, I am distant from God at the moment, even though I am still capable of receiving divine inspiration, because you really do not have to be close to God in order to receive inspirations of the divine. In fact, I might not have been this distant from God ever before, which is hard for me to handle, but this is a challenge that I have no other choice but to deal with, not because there is any meaning in this challenge, but because I actually do not have another choice, read "Naturalism and Its Confused Opponents".
