Navigating the informational landscape |

If you're interested in my post that specifically deals with types of information or "news & media", read that post here.
Ah, yes it's the 21st century and navigating the informational landscape is harder than ever and knowing what good information truly is seems quite impossible, and all this is of course in keeping with the overriding tendencies of our time – read "The End of history". When it comes to information you must understand that there are different forms of information and the information that is delivered to you will be of more or less quality, and in this context you can think of "high quality" information as something that is shaped by truth, and "low quality" information as something that is shaped by quantity or density – truth in this context being something that transcends the temporal world. This means that this page contains "high quality" information, while most news pages contain "low quality" information; whether the information is true in a merely corporeal sense is of little importance in this context – what matters here is quality in the truest sense of that word. Of course, this is why the type of information that you're receiving is important: in a purely quantitative and material sense, relying on the monstrosity of statistics would more than likely suffice, as long as you are in on it, because after all you may construct any profane "truth" or law with enough data, with enough of a numerical advantage, but again these pseudo-truths have nothing to do with the real or suprahuman truths that describe the qualities of the entirety of existence; then there are such aforementioned qualitative truths that only some few people are adept enough to truly receive, and in the past these truths where understood as such – suprahuman truths. The role of receiving such suprahuman truths where traditionally only played by the priesthood or the spiritual authority in the realm, and from the spiritual authority, who held the highest truth, all other and lesser principles that governed the whole of the temporal domain had their origin – this Temporal Power had a "divine mandate" to rule the realm. This is to say that with the properly hierarchical structure of the social organization, information proceeded and could therefore be deduced properly by those who possessed the ability to receive such information. Today on the other hand, information is supposed to "flow freely" and it is really up to the mass to deduce this constant stream and flow of information, and as such the hierarchical order of information is, like all aspects in the modern world, inverted; this is for instance why most people seem to be governed by simple-to-understand informational bits called "memes", really a type of compartmentalization of information, quite in keeping with the individualism of our age. Yes, all men are essentially supposed to be able to both receive the same information, but all men are also supposedly equal in their deduction of information, and really no-one can truly tell what is truth and not, read egalitarianism.
So again to reiterate and to clarify, there are essentially two types of information out there: the higher form is the one that contains the lower form; higher quality information being universal and not subject to the influence of the democratic masses; the second being the statistical type of information that only serves to either describe or construct some mechanical procedure. Yes, the second, the lesser, type of information may still be relevant, and the fact that statistical information is lesser has nothing to do with the immediate and corporeal validity of such information, because lesser and statistical data may still be more or less write in an entirely material sense; that is to say: statistical information can still approach reality enough to satiate the particular reason for that information; and on the other hand the converse is also true, statistical information may be considered false in an entirely material and corporeal sense, because some application of statistical information, data, may simply be less capable of approaching reality in some given field. Yes, statistical information is always subject to "open discourse", to the masses, and therefore statistical information, since it also describes merely something quantitative and numerical, can always be "adjusted" and manipulated to fit the current description of reality better, and again, the converse is also true, and this is perhaps best captured by the wholly "subjective" field of economics, where a common saying should go something like this: "what cannot be described by numerical units is of no value", value in the context of economics being the only unit of measurement with some fidelity to a very remote sense of "quality".
Yes, quality indeed and that's perhaps the best way to describe information: the transmission of quality; but in the modern world, information attempts not to transmit anything that cannot, as economists would put it, be described in a merely quantitative sense, and this is really why information, in the modern sense, has nothing to do with transmissions of quality, since modern informational techniques truly are incapable of transmitting anything that is true, again "true" here in the truest sense. This is also captured by the rather vexing notion of mass produced quality, as if such a thing was possible; but even to the moderns there is still a certain, weak though it may be, sense of quality and even to these moderns, here in this 21st century, there surely is something unsettling about the notion of something being mass produced, without any qualitative or human input – a machinery without direction and without a master cannot produce anything worthy of the label "masterpiece". The same is of course true for information: statistical information cannot be truly mastered and such information cannot truly relay or transmit anything of true importance, and really, for the most part it seems that statistical information—which is the most common type of information in the modern world—carries nothing but hysteria and sentimentalism; statistical information exists to shape the form of the mass and to direct the mass into a mob, to reshape the lose masses into a true monster directed at anything the revolutionary elite wish to smash this horde into – and for the moderns this is what passes for the humanist notion of "popular sovereignty".
Yes, some information is more important than other, and depending on your "qualifications", in this context I apply the word "qualification" in the full sense of that word, you should seek to receive information that you can skillfully master, and only in the end, at the summit of metaphysical manifestation, can the term identity or unity be applied – the unity of the source.
