Gravitas |

Gravitas is one of those things that require time and proper development, a little bit like fine wine and really if forced it almost never works. Yes, it could be that on occasion an actor, maybe two actors, are able to pull of the role of being the man with gravitas but this is a rather hard act and for the most part I would expect those actors to have a lot of gravitas on their own, read "Directing Films". Truly, anything that has grown into its domain, anything of quality that is, has a kind of gravitas to it or about its presence, read "Traditional Forms", such as a Divan in the right context. But gravitas is perhaps something that people mostly associate with humanity and in particular men; this is why I believe that it is helpful to distinguish between the concept of traditional forms and gravitas, not that such a distinction is strictly required in my view. Of course, since gravitas, a Latin word, is mainly associated with men of some experience, usually a professional within the context of the material order, it has to be stated that far from most men ever actually develop a proper gravitas and indeed many men do attempt to cultivate a sense of authority, yet they never actually become that thing which they seek to become and this is mainly because they are either too unfocused and lack proper and skillful means, which often entails a kind of confusion about boundaries; or because they simply do not have enough experience, often because they actually are too lazy. I should also add that it is quite possible to gain gravitas without being truly qualified in the metaphysical sense because gravitas describes a quality that may or may not be true beyond the supra individual order, and it can also happen, although this is less common, that truly qualified men lack gravitas, but this mostly occurs for the reason that these men operate outside the realm of possibility, outside the realm of possibility for most men; so such men tend to appear to lack gravitas when in fact they are qualified. Actually, there are, at any rate, very few truly qualified men these days which means that the matter of gravitas has little to do with men of ascendant rank; although I should add that men with the possibility to earn ascendancy may often be able to create a kind of gravitas about them more often than men who have often become completely. I should also add that it is possible, read "Gender Roles" for a woman who is manifestly female to earn gravitas and in these instances it may be the case that these women have truly been born in the wrong body, and I would expect this to potentially be the case with homosexuals as well but of course in the converse order, but this is a matter for another time.
There is of course, also the possibility that a woman can earn gravitas within the female sphere, so to speak, and these women are often also professionals in the modern setting, but many of these women would have been matriarchal in older times and their role would often have been to reassure other, and often younger, women in matters that simply could not be keep away, such as proving marriage advice, etc. I will also add that age, though this is a somewhat problematic quantity, is a dimension that should be taken into account when considering the subject of gravitas because it is rare to find a young or younger man that has earned gravitas, although this can happen, because young men are essentially, from a material point of view, completely useless and really a burden, until of course they become productive, read "What is Capitalism?". So, if a young man attempts to emit some kind of phony and unearned gravitas this will often be very easy to notice, because a young man may be a man, read "Masculinity", but he is not considered an industrial man—of course this applies in this our industrial age but similar measures did exist in ancient times as well and to some extend gravitas was also connected to the "rite of passage", read "Rituals"—because what is essentially manly, to borrow that somewhat confused neologism, is tied only to power and money, and of course money and power is essentially almost the same thing in modern times, although I would add the caveat that money is more similar to coercion. To some extend this lack of gravitas among young males can be noticed in the animal kingdom as well, because when it comes to the gravitas of some or another creature this is simply not tied to the supra individual order and so much of this applies across the manifested world, without much segregation to account for, and among many species a similar, though often less developed, kind of gravitas is primarily a quality tied to older and more experienced males, but I do not wish to continue this comparison, since it would simply be too tempting for many men to continue with this comparison and derive falsehoods from it, read "Naturalism and Its Confused Opponents" and "Eugenics", often for the purpose of propping up some or another form of agenda, read as well "Ideological Indoctrination".
The point of gravitas, in my view, is to be able to walk in the world without being too sensitive, and in a sense one could conceive that after a some amount of stress most hard things of the quantitative domain would grow a certain amount of protection and indeed this is even something that most profane scientist would agree with, read "Disease Control!", because the body, in a profane sense, has the ability to protect itself from agents of disease, read "What are Demons?", especially after it has been exposed to a certain amount of "disease load", I realize that this is a very material and corporeal explanation. So, if gravitas is for the purpose of protecting yourself and if most men lack gravitas, is it then not so strange that most men are depraved? Yes, but you must also understand that the deviation came before the disorder; most men simply do not and never had the opportunity to develop a certain gravitas. Also, yo may say that it would be somewhat silly for a young man to even try to develop a gravitas as this should come, if he is dedicated enough, with experience, and experience comes with older "age"; so young men simply have not earned gravitas, but then again many older men have not earned any kind of gravitas either.
