Easy Living?
Friday – April 3, 2026

Easy living or perhaps easy livin'? I suppose it all depends on your attitude, and apropos attitude, I guess too that it is true that attitudes tend to govern the course of life, right? Well, actually not, but let's return to that topic later. Why is easy living important, or rather why do so many people, moderns mind you, seem to value this supposedly "easy livin'" attitude? Is it all about being blasé or carefree, or perhaps something else? Well, first of all what you need to understand is the essentially nihilistic core of the concept of "easy livin'", and what I mean by that is that the idea, although seldom explicitly stated, of modern life is that you should allow yourself to become sick, but slowly; a useful analogy here is the slow boiling of the frog. Do people actually want to become sick and depraved, even toxic? Well no, but most people have accepted that at some point the material game is up and that the best way to prepare for this immanency is to basically slowly poison yourself, and this attitude goes to addictions as well: the point is not to just immediately die, and besides the time is not yet ripe; the point is of course to feel a sense of control over destiny, something that is lacking under the material order. Now, I have written about health in the past, and you should read that post, but the point of health is not about good standing or even the extension of life. No, no,no... The point of health is to gain control, or a sense of control, over your life. Of course, in the past human beings did not require a sense of control, as they knew their place within the metaphysical order of things, and for them you may say that life was easy, but pre-modern people did not require ideological indoctrination and they did not believe in the utopianism of deranged people, and yes deranged people did exist in those times as well, but deranged people did not have power in those times, read "Politicians". But an easy life is also about anxiety, or rather the need to find a "safe place" in the commotion of the modern world, and really we have almost reached the point where commotion and chaos is permeating every part of the world, read "The End of History".
But what about slowly poisoning yourself, why is this such a powerful idea today? Well, first of all, the moderns have this concept of a "dignified death": a dignified death basically means a controlled death, as if there was such a thing, but notice why they place so much importance on this concept of a "dignified death"; see, they know that they most likely will succumb to a rather painful and diseased death, because they know that the modern world promotes disease and death—to the point where this is accepted and sometimes even integral to the concept of identity—and instead of actually doing something, material or not, to curse themselves from these diseases, they instead insist upon their libertarian ways. So essentially, the logical conclusion becomes, for the sensible, to at least seek to control their final act, not because this matters but because even they have reached the point where they simply cannot stand the humiliation anymore. Now, what kind of life is this, and truly, what kind of freedom is this supposed to be? Well, apparently this is just the "natural" life cycle of a tropical ape without too much hair, and to expect anything else requires that aforementioned "mysticism" or cope as they also deem anything outside the corporeal modality, anything outside the senses. Is this not bizarre? Why would you accept something you know to be wrong, wrong in the true sense of the word, and then complain at the end? Would it not make more sense to live by some kind of creed? Well, this is of course the conclusion of the conservatives, but even for them this is just that, creed, and really nothing of any kind of true importance, and for the most part these people are only performing, and that is why religion, a western conception mind you, should be understood as the exterior of the great primordial tradition. Besides, what is there to conserve in a world without some kind of ground, some kind of average or mean? There is not even a kind of "colored noise" to speak of here.
So, if you are going to die from your own depravity, you may as well make it happen according to your preferred and momentary indulgences? Why not? At least this is the thinking, or this is the thinking that I have attempted to make clear. Be that as it may, it should become clear that whatever modern life is about, it is above all about practicality, and how do you best make life practical? Well, you make life more practical by extracting the fundamental substance in everything, truly you solidify the world; and when the world is truly solid, then all problems have been solved – then humanity has reached the final form. Of course, that point can never be truly attained, not that it would be possible to attain something lower and infra-human, read "Qualification". Inversion is of course possible to attain, but only to a certain limit; it would, as just stated, be quite impossible to become completely solidified and completely stripped of essence.
Then there is also laziness, and in the profane conception of the world, the idea is that conservation of energy best serves life. As if the conservation of energy was even possible! Of course, the same moderns then turn around and postulate and then assert that indeed energy may not be contained in one system indefinitely, and this would surely include the human body as well, and especially not since the human body is not closed. Closed systems are passive, and this means that the human body being not passive and closed is active, or rather requires action, but the moderns somehow expect that they are going to conserve an active system. Of course, this is a part of the confusion: moderns are more and more active, or rather they expect that action is the only modality that matters, crude action, yet they believe that action is best served by a lazy and low mentality, really a mentality of reliance. So, whence the body has been open to the world to the point that it cannot rely on itself only, the easy life has been achieved, but it requires you to slowly poison yourself. So, nothing new on the "happening front"... No, nothing new, but this was expected.
