Further Notes About Hope |
Saturday – September 5, 2026
In my post about hope, called "Is There Hope", from June, I made it clear that there is no hope in the long term, and this has to be true, even if we only choose to view this from a merely corporeal point of view, because at the very least we should all be dead in the next century or so. Now, if we are lucky or unlucky, depending on the perspective, maybe we will be remembered through symbolism and representation, and maybe even through counterfeit, if we are unlucky that is. But none of us can possibly have any hope that we should be around in a century or so, for our biological limitations, or corporeal limitations, dictate that living past, about the age of 120, is quite impossible, and this was even said by Yahweh himself, read "Genesis Chapter 6". Now, I am not a nihilist and it is not my intent to advance nihilistic ideas on this page, it is however my intention to advance the truth, read "Knowledge", and the truth may sometimes be hard to bear, this I can acknowledge, but the truth must be observed regardless, regardless of the emotions of the person receiving the truth.
Just because we may consider the fact that there is no hope long term, this does not mean that we completely forget about the short term hope, because such a hope does indeed exist; although I should add that this hope is sometimes used excessively. It is also not the case that you can simply replace the future with whatever short term hope you are relying on, or motivation I suppose, read "Self-Improvement?". Of course, it would perhaps be appropriate for me to provide an example: if you are currently ill, there may still be a hope for your recovery, and this is one example of short term hope. Now, many take this short term hope, this likelihood, of a recovery from an illness and they proceed to go to far with it: all of a sudden your potential recovery from some disease will seem as if you are recovering from the conditions of life, which is not the case; when you have recovered from your disease, you will be right back where you started, and there will be no room for sudden improvement. Really, the fact is that most people find it quite impossible to change, to change themselves and subsequently themselves. Yes, this is really the case: people allow themselves to become addicted to hope, and then they fail to see their real outlook. Yes, the world will, according to profane science, end in about 1 billion year, and perhaps some Cyanobacteria will remain another 2 to 2.5 billion years at most, but all human life will surely cease in 1 billion years, raad "The Archean Eon". Of course, none of this matters right now, but the fact that you will be dead, read "When Will You Die?", does matter in the not so distant future, and this was actually my whole premise in my previous post, because you will soon be dead, really well before 1 billion years. Then there is a lot of talk about perhaps humanity colonizing space, which is a prospect that could turn out to be true, but it is also true that the humanity that will explore space is going to be the future of humanity in this our iteration, but more on that in my "Future series".
Now, while hope may seem to be largely about something quite existential, it is also the case that hope is about the immediate, because you do need hope to function in everyday life, and this means for instance that you could adopt certain routines in order to cope with everything that happens every day. As they say, decades can pass without anything happening, and then everything can change in one single moment, which is why you need to be prepared for large and existential change, such as being affected by an illness, an illness that is severe, and really an illness that you may not survive, read "Curing Disease". Yes, while these things appear to just happen, they still have some causes, and some of those causes tend to find their roots in our behaviours, behaviours that are detrimental to our health. It is true that our psychic state can affect our physical state more than we care to consider at first. So hope in that sense means relying on the short term hope of everyday life, without which the only thing left would be consistency, consistency in life. But again, consistency in life is also rather hard without hope in the first place. I may be rambling on here, but the point should be clear: you may not have any long term hope, at least not in the corporeal sense, but this does not mean that you should give up and lay down. Sometimes, read "Failure", it is good to give up though, and this is where you must accept that there is no hope either. If you are facing an impossible situation, the only logical thing to do is to act out of self-protection, that is to say to act to protect yourself from bad things, and this can be seen with people who commit repeated mistakes; these people simply refuse to learn and simply refuse to accept the fact that they will not succeed and that they must move on in life.
The other day, while writing the post "The Matter of Comedy", I realized that the hope was out, and so I moved on. I simply faced too many issues at once, and in fact I have been facing multiple issues today as well, which has created a situation that has been very difficult. But all of these things I believe stem from all the issues that I am currently facing, read "Personal Disintegration", which means that this is the third day in a row that is completely ruined for me. Well, so I have lost my hope, at least for today and probably for the weeks to come. Yes, this is how life can sometimes turn out, a perfect storm of events that work against you. I keep getting distracted by all the problems that I am facing, which means that it may be time for me to take a long walk out in nature. So that I can get away from the craziness of the modern world, read "Modern Civilization". At any rate and despite my personal problems, there is no need for me to panic and there is no need for me to get off the main subject: if I seek to live by hope, then I need to prepare for the times in the shadow, when there is no hope. This applies to all people. I am still affected by my bilious attacks and the problems with my gallbladder, read my "Medical Emergency Updates".
