Genesis, Chapter 7 |
Sunday – August 2, 2026

Dreamers are the men who made great leaps in history and were remembered for their leaps, and so was the case for men such as Abraham (אַבְרָהָם) and Moses (מֹשֶׁה), in the Old Testament, the Tanakh (תָּנָ״ךְ), whom I will cover later in this "Bible Study series", read "Dreaming". Of course, then there are those men who are forgotten, but we are still aware of their leaps, and their fate is truly that of the abyss, at least if we only concern ourselves with the narrow purview of modern men, that of assuming that all significance should be defined by the individual, read "My Views on 'Genius'". I suppose the difference between a legend and the man on the bottom of the abyss is memory? And in that case, it should be fitting to study the Bible, which of course is the intention of this series. Now, this will be the 7th part of this series, but before you read this post I urge you to consider reading all previous parts in chronological order: part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4, part 5, and part 6. As I always state: if you decide to read this part without having read all previous parts, you are doing this on your own, and you may or may not, depending on your level of understanding, end up confused, and if you do end up confused I can only urge you – again to read ALL the previous parts, not only this part.

    So far, I have only managed to cover one chapter per part, and I intend to continue at this rather slow pace for a while to come, but it may happen at some point that I decide, depending on the Biblical chapter being considered, to pick up the pace in order to not spend too much time on parts of the Bible that are of less importance, such as the presentation of a certain lineage and genealogy. I have also decided to continue this slower pace, for the most part, because it allows me to actually cover details that are important in the Bible, because it does appear to be the case that many Bible studies tend to gloss over details because they are details, rather than actually examining each detail and then dismissing details that appear to be of less importance. This is not to say that every single character and every single syllable in each word, in each sentence, and in each verse of the Bible must be considered in the great detail, as this would simply make this study much too cumbersome, but it does mean that time is not the most important quantity here, and really I would go so far as to argue that quantities are of almost no importance at all in this study, as we are dealing with the word of God, read "The Will of God", and the word of God may not be secularized before it can be understood properly. Again, I hold no special qualification, read "Qualification", outside divine inspiration, and I act only for a moment and upon the will of God as a kind of ambassador, read my "About me" page, but never outside the will and the time of God, if we consider God to be bound by time that is,* which is actually quite preposterous. This means that I may be bound by time and the will of God, but in no way do I claim nor have I claimed that God is bound by my will, something that really would amount to blaspheme.

    I have referred to the Creator as God, but as I have done in each previous part, I will refer to the Creator, God, as Yahweh (יַהְוֶה), because Genesis covers the Old Testament, and it is my view and the opinion of most scholars that the Old Testament concerns that sacred covenant between Yahweh and the Jewish people (the Jews), and it would therefore only be prudent and suiting to refer to God, the Creator, as Yahweh, sometimes Yahweh-Elohim, and/or Jehovah, but for the most part, and again, I will keep referring to God as Yahweh (YHWH), in order to lessen the potential for confusion. In fact, I will go so far as to edit my quotations of relevant Biblical verses where the Creator is referred to as anything other than Yahweh or Jehovah, that is typically the Lord and God. I will indicate this substitution with two brackets, [Yahweh]. Another edit that I may engage in is to substitute the neologism humankind with mankind, and I will usually indicate this as well with two brackets [man]kind. It is not my practice or intention to change the meaning of the Bible, and in fact my argument is that by substituting terms that have been inserted there for political reasons in the first place, I am able to keep a higher fidelity with the true word, read "Ideological Indoctrination". I will also sometimes exclude certain verses that are of less importance in order to save time and space, and this will be indicated by three dots inside two brackets, [...]. As usual, I have opted for using the Catholic New Revised Standard (NRSV-CE) as the primary source in this study, and if you are relying on another, perhaps a proprietary, publication of the Bible, then you are also responsible for keeping track of each verse of each chapter, as there are subtle and often politically influenced differences between each publication, and I would argue that this is especially the case with protestant publications of the Bible.† Now, I do rely on other publications of the Bible as secondary and even tertiary sources, but I will only rely on the NRSV-CE when I quote and when I work with the Bible for the purposes of this study; you will not find quotations from any other publication of the Bible in this post or in any previous parts/posts of this series.

    Yet again, before we can proceed with the study at hand: if you have complaints about anything that I have written and asserted, then you are free to post them in the comment section below this post. I have received a few complaints so far on the official email attached to this page (etherealinsight@protonmail.com), but my policy is to only handle complaints in the comment section, as I have largely reserved other channels of communication for discussions of a more private nature, such as readers sending forward letters containing privileged information, etc. What this means is that I am unlikely to respond to an email complaint as I simply do not have time to handle them, nor do I have time to connect each complaint to each relevant post; simply using the comment section is the best and most straightforward option. This is not a hard rule, but it is a recommendation if you actually want me to respond; I also call on you to refrain from using offensive words in your comments. I should also mention again, that it is my intention of creating a separate page that will take care of all of the possible confusions and other important information to be considered in this study; that page is still not finished, and when it is finished I will simply link each post to that page in order that can skip having to reiterate all of this information in each of these posts, as I mentioned above.

✠ The Great Flood ✠
Genesis 7:1 – 5:

Then [Yahweh] said to Noah, 'Go into the ark, you and all your household, for I have seen that you alone are righteous before me in this generation. Take with you seven pairs of all clean animals, the male and its mate; and a pair of the animals that are not clean, the male and its mate; and seven pairs of the birds of the air also, male and female, to keep their kind alive on the face of all the earth. For in seven days I will send rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights; and every living thing that I have made I will blot out from the face of the ground.' And Noah did all that [Yahweh] had commanded him.

In Hebrew tradition it is clear, or at any rate made clear, that certain foods are immoral, read "Are Certain Foods Immoral?", for they are unclean or they come from unclean animals. This is where the concept of Kosher (כָּשֵׁר)‡ is derived from. Now of course, in Christian tradition, or rather in Christian doctrine, this is not applied, which is another reason why I should refer to the God of the Old Testament as Yahweh and not merely God, as Yahweh is not universal, at least not yet, and  this also goes to disprove the nonsensical view of a so-called "Judeo-Christian" tradition, for it is clear that these are two distinct traditions, and not only based on how food is handled, but nonetheless food culture is still important.

    You may also note the recurring numbers 7 and 40: there are seven days in a week, or it takes seven days to complete a weekly cycle, before the New Monday emerges; and Moses wandered with the Israelites for 40 years in the wilderness of the Sinai desert after having been freed from Egyptian slavery, but this is also a point that I will cover in greater detail in Exodus, that is the next chapter.§ Note as well that when the Bible refers to clean and unclean animals, that it only concerns those animals that are suited or not for human consumption, and they are suited for human consumption for a reason, just as certain animals are unsuited for human consumption for a reason.

Genesis 7:6 – 10:

Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters came on the earth. And Noah with his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives went into the ark to escape the waters of the flood. Of clean animals, and of animals that are not clean, and of birds, and of everything that creeps on the ground, two and two, male and female, went into the ark with Noah, as [Yahweh] had commanded Noah. And after seven days the waters of the flood came on the earth.

First of all, this passage of Genesis makes it clear still, that Noah was much closer to the perfect form, read "Traditional Forms", than what modern humans are, or really post-flood humans, and this meant as well that he was closer, not necessarily in Christian doctrine I should add, to the primordial body and to perfection. This is to say that Noah was not stricken with disease and overcome by grief in the same way that modern humans are, and really with great, as Yahweh makes clear, standing comes great reward in this life, at least this according to the Old Testament and to Hebrew tradition, really one is not concerned with the hereafter, which is another striking difference between Judaic tradition and Christian tradition.

    Note again, that it took seven days before "the flood came on the earth", which is why the new world, the post-flood world is signified by the New Monday of our era; and so the old world, the pre flood world (Antediluvian), is clearly separated by the cycle of the week. In fact, one week had to pass before the flood came along, so that man, Noah and his family, could prepare, and that preparation could only have been completed on day 7, the last Sunday before the new era, before the New Monday.‖

Genesis 7:11 – 16:

In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep burst forth, and the windows of the heavens were opened. The rain fell on the earth forty days and forty nights. On the very same day Noah with his sons, Shem and Ham and Japheth, and Noah’s wife and the three wives of his sons entered the ark, they and every wild animal of every kind, and all domestic animals of every kind, and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, and every bird of every kind—every bird, every winged creature. They went into the ark with Noah, two and two of all flesh in which there was the breath of life. And those that entered, male and female of all flesh, went in as [Yahweh] had commanded him; and [Yahweh] shut him in.

Again, this is a reiteration of the previous paragraphs of this same passage, but here we may note, again as I referred to above, the subtle nuance in the details that this passage conveys. It is made clear exactly, with a great certainty, when the flood began, as opposed to only proclaiming that the flood happened. Of course, Noah is also commanded to do all these things, just as Yahweh commands the flood, for Yahweh (God) is in command of nature but also independent of nature, which means that Yahweh is not affected by the great schism, he is independent of sin and may not be subject to his own judgment, although this is a somewhat disputed point among scholars.¶

    In this passage we may also note the basic foundations of what has become the family unit, mostly consisting of the father or the patriarch, his wife, the mother, and the children, although I again must make it clear that the Bible, the Old Testament, in no way forbids the marriage between one man and multiple wives, read "Polygamy", again this is a disputed point but I will not acquiesce to the hysteria and the sentimentalism of the fundamentalists.

Genesis 7:17 – 24:

The flood continued forty days on the earth; and the waters increased, and bore up the ark, and it rose high above the earth. The waters swelled and increased greatly on the earth; and the ark floated on the face of the waters. The waters swelled so mightily on the earth that all the high mountains under the whole heaven were covered; the waters swelled above the mountains, covering them fifteen cubits deep. And all flesh died that moved on the earth, birds, domestic animals, wild animals, all swarming creatures that swarm on the earth, and all human beings; everything on dry land in whose nostrils was the breath of life died. He blotted out every living thing that was on the face of the ground, human beings and animals and creeping things and birds of the air; they were blotted out from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those that were with him in the ark. And the waters swelled on the earth for one hundred fifty days.

All life on Earth and in the world was destroyed by the divine vengeance of Yahweh, for that had to be the case; in the end evil must be destroyed in order to instill justice and to finally root out corruption in order to create sacred order, read "Destruction!". Now, today it is fancy to talk a great deal about the need for forgiveness and mercy, and surely the example of Christ, as shall be noted later in this study, speaks for that example, but when it comes to the urgent need to restore the scales of the celestial order, the Bible also makes it clear that great destruction is sometimes needed, indeed fully necessary and justified, and indeed this is the case today. To what extent would love and the do-good mentality of the humanist axiom exactly achieve the goal of justice on Earth? But this passages also, again, reiterates the fact that God (Yahweh) must be independent from his own action: Yahweh is the mover of things without being affected by that movement; Yahweh is not bound to the material world, and this is why it is necessary for a link, a bridge if you will, to be established between God (Yahweh) and man, and why some men must reach the supra-human state in order to act as emissaries of the divine; this is the foundation of the clergy and of sacred authority on Earth. I suppose a modern analogy would be that of treating a disease, for diseases represents a corruption of the body and of the mind, read "What is Mental Illness?", and when the body and/or the mind is corrupted, there are treatments that can restore the body and/or the mind, and often these treatments involve a kind of rebirth, see "New Monday", which means that the old has to be completely wiped out, this is the case for instance with many cancer treatments; when the body has become too corrupted, you must simply wipe it all out.

    Again, if you are affected and animated by the humanist axiom and the spirit of modernity, read "Modern Civilization", you would likely find this whole passage reprehensible, but it only seems that way to you because you are profoundly ignorant, you lack true and sincere knowledge, and so you are actually reprehensible or rather, your example is quite reprehensible, and this goes for most of your lifestyle, read "Preferences", but also for most of your outlook. It is simply not true that mercy and forgiveness, indiscriminate acceptance and tolerance, are always virtues or indeed always strengths, for when times are though and when the cosmological environment calls for it, it is necessary for vengeance and for wrath, all in order to impose the balance of justice on the world. Indeed, order cannot be created out of chaos, at least not without the moving hand of the mover, or Yahweh (God) – the Creator.

* I should add that not only is God, the Creator, not bound by time, but most other creatures apart from humans are indeed not bound by time either. It would be prudent for the purposes of this series to consider time, in the colloquial sense, to be an advent of the Industrial Revolution, and really something that has acted to separate man from nature, read "How to Interact with Nature".

† Now, without providing an example, as this would carry this study too far afield, I can say with a great deal of confidence that there are many charlatans and false preachers in the Protestant ranks, and a great example of this, if I allow myself to actually provide an example, would of course be the monstrosity that is televised Evangelicalism; truly an inversion of the word of God and of the example of Christ, read "My Views on Fundamentalism".

‡ For more information about kosher and other Jewish ritual laws, I direct you to Deuteronomy 14:1 – 21, something that I will cover in greater detail at another time. Apart from the Bible, it is worth nothing that certain animals and therefore certain foods are also considered clean and unclean in Islamic tradition (حلال).

§ I should add that both the numbers 7 and 40 are sacred numbers and have sacred meanings: again 7 should signify completeness and the rest of the Sabbath (שַׁבָּת), but also rebirth; whereas 40 should signify the trial of hardship, read "The Metaphysics of Adversity", and transition, for instance when Jesus ascends the Earth, transforming into the supra-human state.

‖ Note, the concept of a New Monday is not only Biblical; in fact, such a concept exists in all the major metaphysical traditions, and it should signify above all rebirth, but also memory, for without memory rebirth becomes meaningless.

¶ Again, this point is disputed among scholars and it would also carry this study too far afield to attempt to resolve this dispute here, not that such a resolution could be reached. I should add though, that it seems clear that God must be independent from the Creation when we consider most of Genesis, for at no point is God referenced in such a way that it seems apparent that he too is subject to his own laws.
