Why Must We Object?

The world can often come across as nothing but a stream of uncontrollable events, things that happen for no reason. In this noise, in this storm, in this pollution really, we may be tempted to simply accept our fate and the fate of the world. Why object, why say anything? Well, while this may feel normal, maybe even natural in this dope filled world, we must still remember our past, and our past is pretty clear: we must object when we know that going down a certain path is wrong. Now, this does not have to mean that we must make this a struggle that involves anyone else than ourselves, but it does mean that we must have the courage to admit to ourselves that the world is a fundamentally corrupt and evil place, and that we simply cannot coexist with filth and degeneration. Again I must ask, what would Abraham (אַבְרָהָם) say if he was still around today? It is rather hard to accept that these people, modern men, should be the descendants of Abraham.* Indeed, are these people the same, do they belong to the same kind as Abraham and the first generations, and what about the shared primordial body? All of these things appear to be in doubt, but the problem is not doubt, the problem is action and inaction: when is it appropriate to act, and when must we object? See, it is too easy to call on other men to object and to act, while we ourselves sit back in comfort and passivity; and yes, passivity is good and can sometimes be called for. Now, a man that is unable to object to injustice is not really a proper man, he is really a machine, and it is quite frankly not uncalled for to approach the world as a machine. Take the example of a lie being spread and you know that it is a lie, would you continue to propagate the lie, or would you refuse? In this instance you must object, you must object to protect the truth, read "Knowledge", and to protect your own sacred honor; in the future, you will be known as a liar unless you can stand up and tell the truth. Men that are known as liars are generally mistreated and for good reasons—even though some people could, and perhaps quite rightly, argue that it is wrong to do two wrongs—as these men pose a threat to the community, to the society at large. It was not liars and cheats that brought civilization upon the face of the earth, even though most modern civilizations consist of an economy based on lies and exaggerated expectations, read "What is Capitalism".

    So, you should object, you must object, at least if you do not wish to fall into the abyss. Of course, these things require patience and strength, and those are personal qualities that are rare these days, mostly because there is no real warrior caste to speak about anymore, but this is a point that we can put aside for now, read "Temporal Power". Then there is also another aspect that I have yet to describe: if you fail to object when it matters, perhaps when it matters the most, then you may as well stay silent forever; for a man that cannot face truth when truth matters the most is a man that has no use for truth; that man already dwells at the bottom of the pit. Yes, this is the harsh reality of the situation, for objection is never about being an obstructionist, even though you will be accused of this; objection is about facing reality, prosecuting the righteous path, and on that path you require light; truth is the light. Yes, these are quite obvious and even vapid observations, but you know, at least you should know, that they are true, and if you do not know them as truth, then you may as well be lost to time, read "The End of History". Of course, deceits and lies usually begin on a personal level. Most people discover quite early in their development that they can get away with lying to themselves, and yes, it is harder to lie to other people, but they learn that skill as well, or anti-skill really. Verily, the greatest form of treachery is that of lying to yourself; everything else proceeds from that wicked point in time. So, if you do not want other people to lie to you, then you may as well start by not lying to yourself, and if it is unacceptable to lie to yourself, then it should be unacceptable to lie to others. Yes, this is a society or it is not; either other men are your fellow men or they are your enemies. I know that in this dope filled cosmopolitan world, that most other men seem to be strangers in familiar places, and so you may struggle to know how to relate to them, and perhaps you reject the binary of my previous statements, and so it is easier for you to simply treat these strangers neither as fellows of foes, but as citizens, perhaps even fellow citizens, fellow automatons and fellow exchangeable economic units. Object to this or fall into silence, the choice is yours to make, at any rate if you believe in so-called "free will", the choice is yours. Again, the point of this post was never to call on people to take action. No, action requires intellect and contemplation. A man without a mind of his own is not a free man, which was the whole point of this post to begin with, to create a stronger mind and a stronger will, without the need for the modern confusion that is psychoanalysis, read "Theory of Mind".

    I would also argue that in many moments in life, being able to object can be quite transformative, indeed, some people's life would never be the same after their objection, such as in the case of Mary Baker Eddy, when she objected to the fundamentalist concept of predestination, or when Jesus of Nazareth objected to the injustice that he saw, etc. This list could be made long, but the point still stands: if you are incapable of saying no, then you cannot say yes either. Again, there is a lot of reiteration in this post, but these points need to be made and hopefully understood by the readers. There is also a lot of talk today about the fall of Western Civilization, and yes, people are quite right in objecting to this, but most of these people also did not object when their time came, and so they are now complaining about a situation that they themselves partly helped to create.
