Boredom |
Friday – June 12, 2026

Boredom is one annoying little fly, but boredom happens to you, boredom happens to me, and really boredom happens to pretty much everyone. Now, for the most part it is perfectly normal to feel bored and for most of history people had no problem just existing in the moment, and indeed it was actually "normal" to be bored for some amount of time. Of course, today it is considered quite bad to be bored, because people are so dependent on continual amusement and stimulation in this dope filled world, read "Addiction" and "Further Notes on Addiction".
Of course, I am bored quite frequently, because I allow myself to be bored. In fact, often I seek boredom because I know that I will find hope, read "Is There Hope?", in boredom; whenever I am bored, I know that the world around me, the small world, is just right and ordered in accordance with properly applied principles. This is why I believe that the opposite of stress and anxiety is boredom, or what modern people call "boredom", because modern people are so used to being in a constant stress of anxiety about the world around them, that calmness and satisfaction seems like boredom or something quite bad to them; indeed, you may argue that modern people have been programmed to be stressed all the time, and there are even plenty of profane scientists that suggest that this stress is a leading cause of disease and accelerated decay, yet modern people will still acquiesce to stress, read "What are Demons?". So yes, people do not know that boredom is something quite good and likely quite healthy, but the rulers of the materialist order would prefer that you not know of this, at least not on a level that will enable you to get out of it, because granted, the revolutionary elite is not hiding these things per se; instead they are attempting to "normalize" stress, and besides the system calls for it anyways and since you always have a time to catch you will not allow reality to break through. Of course, part of the great subversion of tradition is of course the manipulation involved, and this is particularly visible, if you care to look out for it, in the case of boredom, because like many things that are inherent in the human condition, boredom is treated today as a condition that has to be erased, and on the other hand anxiety has also been made into an identity and a pathology that has to be disordered in order for it to become ordered, which is a roundabout way of dealing with one of the many adverse side effects of modernity; I write "side effects" when I properly really should write effects, as these things serve a purpose at the end of the day, a purpose that hopefully should become more apparent as the world starts to disintegrate, read "Disintegration". Of course, one could say that anxiety and stress could be seen as the mind disintegrating, or really the immediate and corporeal effects of losing ground, of losing proper standing in the world, read "Hierarchy". I should add that this has nothing to do with the many aspects of disturbed parenting involved in psychoanalysis, but I will admit that parents surely could be expected to play a role in the general disturbance so obvious among the youth of today; this kind of progressive, read "My Views on the Progress Maxim", and ever unfolding disturbance, this deviation, because deviation is particularly visible in younger people. Of course, becoming bored has nothing to do with progress, as it is the natural and default state of being, the default modality. Ask yourself this: what is it that you should do, and what is it that you do because you are being told to do so? My guess is that you likely will conflate duty with rule; these are two different things and if you are not careful you run the risk of allowing stress to begin to dictate your life.
Anyhow, this post is about boredom, so allow me to steer the monologue back to the subject at hand, because boredom is actually important because it is an aspect of "ordinary life" that is much too overlooked. I stated that boredom is being treated as a kind of disease, and this is true, but while anxiety is also being treated as a kind of disease (read Generalized Anxiety Disorder, etc...,) it is actually the case that anxiety is being viewed increasingly as a normal part of life. Further, while most modern people still view boredom as a normal part of life, they are increasingly treating anxiety, something quite malefic, as being on the same level or equivalent to boredom, when the truth is that only animals experience anxiety and stress, because animals are unable to steer their environment and to control their destiny; so it is actually accurate to assert that anxiety belongs to a kind of infra-human modality. I will also need to clarify another thing about boredom: it is not the case that boredom, due to the circumstances of anxiety, requires some kind of qualification or supra-human intelligence, read "What is Divine Inspiration?"; boredom requires nothing, and really if we carry the conclusions of negativism to their limit, it would actually be more accurate to suggest that modernity should coincide with a greater level of boredom, which is partly true, but the kind of boredom we are dealing with in regards to modernity is a much less qualified kind of boredom, really a crude boredom, and this is perhaps best captured in the uniformity of our times, read "Ideological Indoctrination", and the destruction of the arts. I suppose another word for boredom is "mindfulness", but do not allow this neologism to fool you, because this product has very little to do with real and vital calm, and yes I use the word "product" because "mindfulness" is being sold as a product to people who lack the ability to actually exist in stillness and harmony. Of course, this inability to exist in calmness is today being referred to as "ADHD" (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), which is just a fancy and modern, really a hip, way of trying to "normalize" (impose) continual anxiety and lack of self-control, and self-awareness, on the masses, read "Democracy". So far, this has worked because it is surely the case that most people are less aware and less capable of controlling their urges, and really modern people are actually embracing animalism in more than one way, read "Should You Engage With Politics?". Essentially: the lack of boredom in the modern world, though the modern world is surely very uniformly boring, is a result of the inability to exist in completeness, and as a result animal urges are being expressed and "normalized".
