Has the Sun Set on the 20th Century?
Sunday – May 31, 2026
The previous century was the most transformative period in the history of mankind, at least during this latest cycle, and today in this our 21st century we are still very much living with the disastrous consequences of that transformation, and while the great deviation began at a time far earlier than any time during the last century, it must be acknowledged that the deviation entered into a kind of acceleration during the last century, and today that acceleration has become such an integral part of everyday life that it is no longer palpable, barely, read "The End of History". So, as the question in the heading goes: has the Sun set on the 20th century? Hardly, the 21st century is still living in the shadow of the 20th century and will likely continue to do so for some time to come, and if indeed history is over I suppose that there will be no memory but that of the 20th century left, but even the 20th century will be forgotten at some point, but what I am trying to suggest is that there is almost no way for the 21st century to garner more significance in the minds of most men, since so much of our times are defined by the previous century; almost every aspect of so-called "ordinary" life revolves around a modality set in the previous century, and on top of that it is also apparently evermore clear that the efficacy of ideas is failing to deliver. Consider the enormous change between the years 1900 and 1920; that change was far more vast than the entirely of the change that occurred between the years 1920 and 2000, because modern men are quickly approaching the limit of materialism, and this shows in their desperation over such future things as AI ("artificial intelligence"). After all, what is it about this AI that is so great? Yes, AIs can solve problems at a faster rate, but they are still not able to cure cancer, at least that is what they are supposed to do I am being told by the proponents of the material order. In other words: all the dreams of the previous century are still very much alive, and this state of dreaming, of some kind of coma, should be understood as a sign of our times: the Kali Yuga, read "The Eschatology of the Kali Yuga".
Memories, is that all that is left of the past? Well, that may or may not be, but soon the power of memory will be gone, for it is quickly fading away, and this was the greatest contribution made in the previous century: the ability of men to evade reality, and this will pay off, make no mistake about it, for virtual (internet?) is the only means in which these grand ideas, read "Ideological Indoctrination", can be realized, and this is even the stated goal of many of its (it being virtual) most ardent proponents, read also "Transhumanism". But I should make myself more clear, because I did state in the previous section that the inventions of the human mind only are getting fewer and fewer in number, and this is true, but generally this would not be a problem, at least not in most of human history, for when quality was truly qualified this was enough in itself, but today the entire rotten structure of civilization, which is barely a "civilization" in the true sense of that word, requires more and more number (numbers), read "Democracy", to keep up with the growing mental expectations of humanity; again this is essentially an issue of the mind, which also means that the world in which most human action is being played out, that is to say not at all, is below that of humanity, truly on the infra-human level, read "Heroism or Cynicism". While this post may sound like nonsense so far, it only does so because this is an issue that truly should not exist, at least not during normal circumstances, but this claim that our world exists in a disruptive state does require further qualification: it is the case that from the surface, if one only cares for the corporeal and immediately available, the world appears as the world did in any other time, but this is also because when the world appears and you refuse to open yourself up to the supra-individual order, all you can see is that which is to be seen by anyone, or in other words once you adopt a unqualified modality, then everything will appear very easy and of course your crude and offensive assertions of mechanism will seem all to obvious, although you are likely to abandon this explanation in the future anyways, which was the whole point of the previous century to begin with.
Again, this post is somewhat confusing for a reason: the issue that I am trying to highlight here tends to elude most people. The obvious answer is that the Sun set on the 20th century over a quarter of a century ago, read "2000" (technically the Sun set on the 20th century in 2001 but this insignificant detail is beside the point of this post), and that humanity is likely to go on until the end, the end being some kind of great catastrophe (cataclysm), read "Destruction!", but when it comes to the future, read more of my "Future series", it seems that this one century of modernity has been and will continue to be allowed to define the future. For instance: why should "nation-states", general mobilization, the industrial man, the internet, etc, etc, be allowed to define the course of history flowing from this time interval? I should add that there are more calendars than the Gregorian calendar, and besides people do attach too much to decades and centuries, and notice how the love of the round number has compelled men to divide history into these neat units of time that are all divisible by 10, which goes to show the problem of borders, really growing problem that will scale with the implementation of all of these ideas and ideals.
The 20th century, of course, is and was more than ideals, apparently, but ideals are what continue to animate men, read "Sentimentalism", and as long as this soup, this narrative, continues to, is allowed to really, define the future in the so-called subconscious, the collective subconscious, really define the paradigm, no hope is in sight, read "What are Post-Political Units (PPUs)?". As I stated, the 20th century is not only about ideals, and yes the future will not be defined by the 20th century only, but it is time for those men who seek higher order and meaning, read "Hierarchy", to dispense with the idea that the 20th century is (was) normal. Really, the year 1101 a.d. (anno domini) was far more "normal" than the year 1901 a.d., and even more so than the year 2001 a.d.
Lastly, do not get hung up on number, decade, and century, for these units of time are only illusions at the end of the day, and that means that they are unable to carry any qualified (real) meaning, but I must operate within the paradigm in order to understand the paradigm, something most modern men fail to understand. Besides, this was never about the 20th century to begin with; the future will be like any other future, provided you retire from the world.
