Genesis, Chapter 19 |
Sunday – November 8, 2026
Excellent results are indeed what I must admit that this "Bible Study series" has been able to produce thus far, which has made me completely delighted and happy. I believe too that I can say with a great deal of confidence that this Bible Series has been rather gracious, and that I have been quite able to not judge as much as to stand as an example of what to do, as opposed to what to not do. Really, most people these days appear to suffer from some kind of annoying and painful inability to act in a way which makes them fresh and clean, true to their own ideals and without impurity. Really, modernity has made it so, that most men are today accepting an ever more certain aspect of compromise and pollution in their life, something that is quite sad, and something that I feel should make most men ashamed, but then again most moderns have been thought to never feel shame, that it is quite bad to show that you are remorseful and even capable of feeling shame. What are we really supposed to do when a man allows himself to manhandle everyone around him and assault the great truths of life? Are we supposed to sit back, read "Radical Peace"?
Now, we are still dwelling in the text of Genesis (בְּרֵאשִׁית) and so far I have been able to mention Sodom (סְדֹם) and Gomorrah (עֲמֹרָה) a number of times, and I have done this because the story of Sodom and Gomorrah should stand as an example from the Bible of what I refer to as divine vengeance, read "Destruction!", and indeed in this chapter we will become more familiar with this concept still. Now, in this series I have already written in great detail about Noah's ark which is another example of divine destruction, but I do believe that the story of Sodom and Gomorrah is even more precise in its application of wrathful love, for love is not about blind trust and indiscriminate acceptance; blind is sometimes about wrath and divine destruction, really cleansing, something that God deemed quite necessary in the first iteration of man, in order to cleanse the world of sin and disease, in order to bring back the primordial concepts to the world, read more here. Again, for most moderns these concepts can often appear quite reprehensible, but the purpose of this series is not to never be offensive, and I suggest that you attempt to check your worldview and your facts if you are greatly offended by any points that I make in the course of this series. These are, of course, rather serious matters and they do not become any less serious because of annoying disputes and interruptions of this kind. Any man that is willing to embrace knowledge must also be willing to shed his past, his old self, so that he may be able to move forward. Lastly on these above points: you must be able to understand the world from a different point of view sometimes, do not allow the sense of moral progressivism and relativism to define your outlook, especially not if you attempt to actually follow along in this series.
Now, this will be the 19th installment of this series, and I urge you, as I must do in every part of this series, to read each previous part in a chronological order before you read this part. By reading each previous part you will be well suited to the Biblical context of this series, as I hold that this series is akin to a chain, and every part in this series represents a kind of link in the chain. Yes, that word "link" is profoundly true and useful in this regard. There is a link between each part of this series, as there is a link between each chapter of the Bible and so on. Now, if you still choose to disregard this, then you are on your own, and it is likely that you will be affected by confusion, but this confusion will fully your own fault; in that instance you only have yourself to blame. This is why I have decided to link the first and the previous part of this series here and here—all in chronological order.
Apart from the importance of reading each of these posts in chronological order, I also urge you to understand that I will apply certain rules in this series, meaning that there are certain guidelines that I will attempt to hold true to, in order to create order and a certain level of predictability. You may say that I tend to repeat myself a lot here, and I do not care. Repetition serves an important function. If you cannot bear repetition, then you may as well go away. I have no patience for people who do not have patience, which may sound quite impossible, but this is one of my rules, but perhaps one or my more softer rules. Generally, I do not believe in inflexibility.*
It is my practise to refer to God and the Lord as Yahweh (יהוה), in order to keep true to the sacred covenant (ברית בין הבתרים) between Abraham (אַבְרָהָם) and Yahweh, read part 15.† Now, I will refer to God and the Lord as Yahweh primarily in my quotations, but more in this later; I will also generally rely on the name Yahweh in my discussions below. While this practice is debated by some scholars, I simply will not engage in that discourse here, read the relevant footnote below (†). Now, you may say that Jehovah (יהוה) should be an acceptable alternative to simply referring to the titles God and the Lord as Yahweh, or even Adonai (אֲדֹנָי), but these names have less in common with Yahweh from a scholarly point of view, and it would also seemingly destroy the possibility that this series could hold true to the fidelity of some consistency without seeming manufactured. This is why I will also engage in substitution, as it is quite necessary for me to substitute the passages from the Bible, namely the Old Testament—or the Tanakh (תָּנָ״ךְ) and the Torah (תּוֹרָה)—in this, as most passages will contain references to the God of the Old Testament with his Christian titles as opposed to his Hebrew (עברית) names, and this substitution will be indicated with the usage of two brackets, [Yahweh]. Any substitution that I engage in will be indicated by the usage of two brackets, as this is a common practice. It is not unlikely that I may simply skip certain irrelevant passages from this chapter, and this will be indicated with the usage of three dots inside two brackets, [...], indicating this; now, I will do this not because these passages are wholly irrelevant, but rather because they provide no useful information in the course of this post. If you are still interested in looking up these passages yourself, you may do this, and you may do this knowing that this series is not a simple recitation of the Bible, and if recitation is what you are looking for, then you may skip this series in its entirety and simply read the Bible. I may also, from time to time, substitute the political neologism of "humankind" in favour of its righteous term [mankind], but this is not a rule that I will apply consistently for practical reasons.
Now, as usual it is also my practise to rely on a certain and specific publication of the Bible, namely the Catholic New Revised Standard (NRSV-CE), and not because this publication is "better" or really "superior" to any other publication of the Bible, read "Qualification". I will rely on this publication of the Bible primarily for its reliable and easy to access English, which means that it will be more suitable in quotations on this page. I will also point out that many publications of the Bible tend to carry a certain and persistent ideological undertone that this particular publication certainly is not exempt from, but that many other publications take to a much greater level, a level that also threatens to cause mutations that are quite unacceptable.‡ I should also state that this is not the only publication of the Bible that I rely on, but this is the only publication that I am willing to quote from in this series; it may come a time where I decide to rely on a different publication of the Bible than the NRSV-CE in the course of this series, and if that happens I will indicate this change at the right time. If you rely on a different publication of the Bible, then you are responsible for any misunderstandings that may occur, as the differences between different publications of the Bible tend to be rather subtle, and my only recommendation is that you fall back on the NRSV-CE in the context of this series.
Yet again, before we can proceed with the study at hand: if you have complaints about anything that I have written and asserted, then you are free to post them in the comment section below this post. I have received a few complaints so far on the official email attached to this page (etherealinsight@protonmail.com), but my policy is to only handle complaints in the comment section, as I have largely reserved other channels of communication for discussions of a more private nature, such as readers sending forward letters containing privileged information, etc. What this means is that I am unlikely to respond to an email complaint as I simply do not have time to handle them, nor do I have time to connect each complaint to each relevant post; simply using the comment section is the best and most straightforward option. This is not a hard rule, but it is a recommendation if you actually want me to respond; I also call on you to refrain from using offensive words in your comments. I should also mention again, that it is my intention of creating a separate page that will take care of all of the possible confusions and other important information to be considered in this study; that page is still not finished, and when it is finished I will simply link each post to that page in order that can skip having to reiterate all of this information in each of these posts, as I mentioned above.
✠ The Depravity of Sodom ✠
Genesis 19:1 – 11:
The two angels came to Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gateway of Sodom. When Lot saw them, he rose to meet them, and bowed down with his face to the ground. He said, 'Please, my lords, turn aside to your servant’s house and spend the night, and wash your feet; then you can rise early and go on your way.' They said, 'No; we will spend the night in the square.' But he urged them strongly; so they turned aside to him and entered his house; and he made them a feast, and baked unleavened bread, and they ate. But before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, both young and old, all the people to the last man, surrounded the house; and they called to Lot, 'Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us, so that we may know them.' Lot went out of the door to the men, shut the door after him, and said, 'I beg you, my brothers, do not act so wickedly. Look, I have two daughters who have not known a man; let me bring them out to you, and do to them as you please; only do nothing to these men, for they have come under the shelter of my roof.' But they replied, 'Stand back!' And they said, 'This fellow came here as an alien, and he would play the judge! Now we will deal worse with you than with them.' Then they pressed hard against the man Lot, and came near the door to break it down. But the men inside reached out their hands and brought Lot into the house with them, and shut the door. And they struck with blindness the men who were at the door of the house, both small and great, so that they were unable to find the door.
The context of this passage has to still be put into the Near East of about 4000 years ago, in full accordance with oral tradition, which is perhaps why an alien (aliens) like the two men who came to Lot (לוֹט), were treated with great suspicion, but it is also the case that aliens were treated like this in general by the population of Sodom, read part 18, which is why the men of Sodom where threatening to storm inside the house of Lot, and let us not remember that Lot and then Abram (אַבְרָהָם), Abraham, were separated through a deceit and schism, read part 13, but that Yahweh was ready now to get Lot and his family out of Sodom, in order to protect them from the impending doom of the city, for let us not forget that Abraham bargained with Yahweh about saving the entirety of the city in order to protect those men who were righteous. Let us also remember that Abraham was praying in the previous chapter, part 18, and that this was not Yahweh's answer to that pray, but still Sodom was doomed, for it had to be this way, and now Abraham was going to be informed about this, as we shall see below.
Perhaps one could argue that this passage shows a "humanitarian" side of Yahweh (God), but this interpretation is wholly misguided and wrong. The matter of rescuing Lot and his family had nothing to do with modern confused notions of "righteousness"; this had still all to do with answering Abraham's prayers, in order to solidify the covenant between him and Yahweh, and later humanity. These major principles had to be derived from somewhere, and the answer was from prayer in this case, and from a qualified answer at that. You see, most modern people have little to no understanding of prayers and the nature of how they can be answered, which is why discussions around prayer tend to be so devolved and degenerate, and really political.
Then we have the circumstance of Lot offering two of his daughters to the crowd, and while I should make no comments about this, let us still understand this gesture from Lot's point of view: as Lot made clear at the outset of this passage: it was profoundly important for him to offer the two strangers roof and shelter and food, and for him this extended well beyond a roof and shelter, for in this age people had a much broader understanding of what constituted home, read "Home",§ and not this compartmentalized and individualistic notion, but this "open" and broad notion of home was surely challenged by the actions of the men of Sodom, which prompted him to offer his daughters to the crown of men as an extension of his home, and while this may seem rather reprehensible for most Westerners, this was a generally normal gesture at the time, and any attempt to bargain away this reality is not necessary at any rate as this was a the right course of action in the case of Lot, especially as he was a righteous man in the eyes not only of his uncle Abraham but in the view of Yahweh.
✚ Sodom and Gomorrah Destroyed ✚
Genesis 19:12 – 23:
Then the men said to Lot, 'Have you anyone else here? Sons-in-law, sons, daughters, or anyone you have in the city—bring them out of the place. For we are about to destroy this place, because the outcry against its people has become great before [Yahweh], and [Yahweh] has sent us to destroy it.' So Lot went out and said to his sons-in-law, who were to marry his daughters, 'Up, get out of this place; for [Yahweh] is about to destroy the city.' But he seemed to his sons-in-law to be jesting.
When morning dawned, the angels urged Lot, saying, 'Get up, take your wife and your two daughters who are here, or else you will be consumed in the punishment of the city.' But he lingered; so the men seized him and his wife and his two daughters by the hand, [Yahweh] being merciful to him, and they brought him out and left him outside the city. When they had brought them outside, they said, 'Flee for your life; do not look back or stop anywhere in the Plain; flee to the hills, or else you will be consumed.' And Lot said to them, 'Oh, no, my lords; your servant has found favor with you, and you have shown me great kindness in saving my life; but I cannot flee to the hills, for fear the disaster will overtake me and I die. Look, that city is near enough to flee to, and it is a little one. Let me escape there—is it not a little one?—and my life will be saved!' He said to him, 'Very well, I grant you this favor too, and will not overthrow the city of which you have spoken. Hurry, escape there, for I can do nothing until you arrive there.' Therefore the city was called Zoar. The sun had risen on the earth when Lot came to Zoar.

| Biblical (תַּנַ״ךְ) depiction of the flight from Sodom (סְדֹם) and Gomorrah (עֲמֹרָה) |
Now, in the true cyclical fashion of the world and of the Biblical depiction and conception of the world, we may be prudent here in noticing the new dawn, the new monday, read part 2, and truly a new time of justice and revelation, but in order for this new dawn, this new monday to elapse, the old world of deceit, schism, politics, and degeneracy had to be destroyed and the land had to be absolutely cleansed of this filth, of sin and of lust, read "Homosexuality!". Yes, the sin and the deceit was grievous in Sodom, and do note the word "Sodomy" in this context, for we are very prudent in asking ourselves where this word is derived from? Yes, it is derived from the that act which shall remain without mention on this page and on this entire blog, for that act was more than merely common in Sodom, and so it is suitable that this word and this to many sin, should be derived from the city of Sodom, and the men were engaging in it without regard for the laws of nature, for the men of Sodom were depraved and diseased beyond the pale – these men were truly degenerate, mutants, inversions of nature, and stark warning from the deep past. Today, we are living in a world where these same acts are not only accepted, they are encouraged, and to think that the modern world should face so much well deserved wrath, read "The Eschatology of the Kali Yuga". For all of these points are connected deeply in the great tradition, and the course of the world is aligned with the revelations of Yahweh; the primordial body is diseased. These actions had to be punished and these people had to be vomited out of the land, and they had to be destroyed also in order to set an example, and this goes to the concept of "discrimination", for today this is something completely misunderstood, though some people are intelligent enough to lean on naturalism as an explanation, but here we should understand such things as a general disgust towards such actions as homosexuality as a connection to the deep, for these actions and their consequences were imprinted on humanity by the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah and the people of the plain.
Genesis 19:24 – 29:
Then [Yahweh] rained on Sodom and Gomorrah sulfur and fire from [Yahweh] out of heaven; and he overthrew those cities, and all the Plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and what grew on the ground. But Lot’s wife, behind him, looked back, and she became a pillar of salt. Abraham went early in the morning to the place where he had stood before [Yahweh]; and he looked down toward Sodom and Gomorrah and toward all the land of the Plain and saw the smoke of the land going up like the smoke of a furnace.
So it was that, when [Yahweh] destroyed the cities of the Plain, [Yahweh] remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in which Lot had settled.
Now the destruction or fire and fury was under way and there was no longer any hope for the inhabitants of Sodom and Gomorrah and the people of the plains, for their fate was now sealed in the blood of the lamb, they had to be offered in order that the scales of the celestial order be restored, and in order that future generations should remember what happened to the men who defied the commands of Yahweh Elohim – the creator supreme and almighty o'er human power. Note as well, that this applied to Lot's wife, and that this is the reason why she must be remembered without name, for she was now one woman among the masses, she had lost her right to be remembered as righteous, for she defied the commands of Yahweh. Really, the fact that she was turned into a pillar of salt should perhaps best symbolize this, as a pillar of salt is rather doomed to disappear with the changing seasons and with the a mixture of the water and the wind; yes Lot's wife had to be erased from the earth in order for the new monday to elapse, and in order for justice to be restored.
If you still find these passages quite reprehensible, then you are still misguided, still enveloped in the modern world. It may be quite hard for a man to come to accept these facts, but as long as you refuse to see history for what it is, you too are destined to be forgotten, erased, turned into a dust in the wind, gone from this world and form the collective remembrance of humanity, read "The End of History".
✛ The Shameful Origin of Moab and Ammon ✛
Genesis 19:30 – 38:
Now Lot went up out of Zoar and settled in the hills with his two daughters, for he was afraid to stay in Zoar; so he lived in a cave with his two daughters. And the firstborn said to the younger, 'Our father is old, and there is not a man on earth to come in to us after the manner of all the world. Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, so that we may preserve offspring through our father.' So they made their father drink wine that night; and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father; he did not know when she lay down or when she rose. On the next day, the firstborn said to the younger, 'Look, I lay last night with my father; let us make him drink wine tonight also; then you go in and lie with him, so that we may preserve offspring through our father.' So they made their father drink wine that night also; and the younger rose, and lay with him; and he did not know when she lay down or when she rose. Thus both the daughters of Lot became pregnant by their father. The firstborn bore a son, and named him Moab; he is the ancestor of the Moabites to this day. The younger also bore a son and named him Ben-ammi; he is the ancestor of the Ammonites to this day.
Now, you may say that Lot had to be really drunk to miss out on this fact, and yes Biblical scholars do continue to question this passage and I am sure that a certain amount of counterfactualism could be necessary to fully grasp this, but we should also remind ourselves of the fact that there is nothing in nature preventing this kind of conception, and while modern science would refer to the offspring of Moab (מוֹאָב) and Ammon (עַמּוֹן) as incesetous, we must not forget that they were conceived in the face of desperation and that they still belonged to the human family and that their lineage is still very much alive. One can choose to live in this shame, or one can choose to see beyond the shame, truly one can choose to have an open mind about these matters. In order to remain prudent to the nature of womankind, we must also reject entirely any suggestions that the daughters of Lot did not know of what they were doing, for they were very well aware of their manipulation, another example of the disease and the schism invited into the world by the woman perpetrator of the first sin, read part 4. At most, we may allow ourselves to extend our speculations to the degree of an oedipus complex between Lot and his daughters, but for this there is no Biblical evidence, read "Theory of Mind". Besides, in what way would this arrangement be that different from cousin marriages?¶

‖ If you wish to read more about this subject, then I direct you to my posts: "My Views on Justice" and "Injustice". They deal with the at times painful realization that in order for the scales of the celestial order to be balanced, a certain amount of wrath has to be felt, truly someone has to be consecrated in the blood of the lamb in order for order and justice to be restored to the world and to the land, and in order for love to be felt in the hearts of seemingly ordinary men; "ordinary men" should not be confused in this context with the presence of solidified men in the modern world, for these are separate in almost all regards, perhaps even diametrically opposed sets of people, read "Hierarchy".
¶ In regards to this topic, I recommend that you read my posts on arranged marriages and polygamy—polygyny to be specific—in order to gain a broader and more contextualized and open understanding of these matters, but more on this at another time. I also recommend that you should read my advice on "Honour", as that post certainly applies in this context.
